The Scream; A Cry Against Domestic Voilence

She looks at her hands and tears fall down her eyes
Her bruises send chills up her spine
She sees him approach and her heart cries
“Help her before she dies”

She gets up and takes out the album of this lie she’s living in
Feeling weak in her knees, she sits down and looks at the pictures

The customs and traditions that tied them together were what drove them apart.

The socially accepted values were sadly the ones that forced her to bend and succumb and he pushed her further.

She still remembers the promises he made to her
the smile she has on her face in the pictures creates a perfect ironical contrast to the fear in her heart.

The way she felt for him then was captured in that moment time in the picture. . .the shy smile on her face conveyed how her love and belief in him completed her. Her hand was given to him in faith. Now the roughness of that same hand makes her soul cry out.
Tears fall down her cheeks as she walks to the mirror, the bruises on her face and body scare her beyond measure, she looks down as she fails to recognise herself.

Soon, she hears him come, her heart races as fast as it can, her tears freeze and burn into her skin
He walks to her and touches her cheek, his cold eyes and even colder touch sends chills down her spine, he apologises for the night before and for leaving her sore. . .

Sadly, she puts on a fake smile and forgives him, her heart wishes it were true but she knows this isn’t the first time and her brain knows it isn’t the last. . .

She loves her family too much to return, she fears the society’s judgement and therefore she  sacrifices herself, everyday, for the ones she loves.

Yes, this is a story. This is the story of millions of women who suffer everyday in the name of love, family and forgiveness.
Till when will this society push down women and till when will they keep fearing judgement?

Why should they sacrifice and not rise against this crime?

Domestic violence is a crime and should be reported not supported.

Quit the reactions and take major actions
